What does it mean to face our shadow? To face our shadow in essence is to re-own parts of ourselves that we view as unworthy or bad or those parts will re-own us. What is meant by this is that all the parts of ourselves we try to suppress or hide, which we deem are not acceptable, will eventually rear their ugly heads creeping up when we least expect it if we don’t acknowledge them. It will show itself as flashes of anger, jealousy, lying , cheating, impulsiveness, etc. We all have a shadow side we try to hide from ourselves and from the world which we learned as children from parents, teachers, coaches, peers, etc. are not acceptable. So to fit in we deny or repress these parts of ourselves and instead project them onto others. This comes out as harsh judgment of ourselves and others. Secretly we want to fully be loved and accepted for who we are, bad parts and all. Shadow work helps you to re-own and accept these parts of yourself so you can live, laugh and love with total freedom.
What is your shadow and what mask do you wear for the world to see?
